Art exhibitions in Stockholm, autumn 2026 – how to find your way

When summer ends, museums, art halls and galleries open their new exhibitions. Autumn is the busiest time of year in Stockholm's art scene.

Why autumn?

Many institutions schedule their major exhibitions for the autumn, and galleries start the season after the summer break with new shows. That means that for a few weeks you can see an unusual amount of new art.

Keep an eye on openings

Openings (vernissager) are the premiere evenings of new exhibitions. They are often open to everyone, and in September and October there can be several every week.

Don't miss the last days

Just as important as seeing what opens is seeing what closes. On Stockholm Art Scene, exhibitions that are closing soon are marked, so you can catch them before it's too late.
