Jules Olitski: [WG.150] Olitski Paintings

This exhibition brings together paintings made between 1989 and 1993, highlighting a late phase of Jules Olitski’s work marked by dense paint and luminous surfaces. Having become a prominent Color Field painter in the 1960s, he later developed a more physical approach, scraping and layering pigment into almost sculptural textures. Works on the page include Ancient Paradise, Moonlit Silence and Center Unbound. Wetterling Gallery’s presentation introduces these late paintings to Sweden, emphasising the interplay of material weight, light and spiritual intensity.
