A guide to art in Stockholm

Stockholm has one of Northern Europe's richest art scenes. On Skeppsholmen, Moderna Museet shows modern and contemporary art from its world-class collection, while Nationalmuseum across the water covers five centuries of art and design. Fotografiska, on the Södermalm waterfront, is one of the world's largest venues for photography.

Around them, dozens of galleries and art spaces show new work – many in Vasastan, Östermalm, Kungsholmen and Södermalm. Most galleries are free to visit and usually open Tuesday to Saturday. Museums often have late opening one evening a week.

How to subscribe

Google Calendar
  1. Press “Subscribe in Google Calendar” above. The calendar opens in a new tab.
  2. Sign in to your Google account if asked.
  3. Make sure the right calendar is selected and press “Add”. The exhibitions appear in the calendar list on the left.
Apple Calendar (iPhone, iPad, Mac)
  1. On Mac: open Calendar and choose File → New Calendar Subscription, paste the link and press Subscribe.
  2. On iPhone or iPad: open Settings → Apps → Calendar → Calendar Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Subscribed Calendar and paste the link.
  3. Tip: you can also press “Subscribe in Apple Calendar” above – the feed then opens directly in the Calendar app on Mac.
Outlook
  1. Copy the feed link with the “Copy feed link” button above.
  2. Sign in to Outlook on the web (outlook.live.com), open the calendar and choose Add calendar → Subscribe from web.
  3. Paste the link, give the calendar a name (e.g. “Stockholm Art Scene”) and press Save.
