Konstantin Zhukov: The Day Before You Came
Photographs about forgotten queer everyday life in Latvian history.
Konstantin Zhukov draws on the diaries of Kaspars Aleksandrs Irbe (1906–1996), a unique record of queer history in the Baltics. In pared-back sequences, the lives of several men interweave – food, work, rest and sex. The images are thermal prints that are slowly fading, a reflection on photography as witness and on the state of Latvia's queer archives. The title comes from an ABBA song.
